Volunteering at MYCAP
We welcome volunteers to come and share their wealth of experience and expertise with us. Opportunities include office work, business mentoring, youth mentoring, reading to children as well as assistance with the VITA-Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program and financial education. Please contact Frances Terry-Pettis at extension 1135 if you would like to volunteer.
Volunteers in the Early Childhood Services department are subject to Day Care Licensing regulations for individuals working with children.
Volunteer Opportunities at MYCAP
1. Classroom Aides: Assist teacher and teacher assistants with clsssroom activities designed for infants , toddlers, and preschoolers in the Head Start Program.
2. Lunch Aides: Assist in service delivery of cooked meals to be served to children ( infants, toddlers, and preschoolers) enrolled in the Head Start Program. Also aid in clean up of service area and the kitchen.
3. Bus Aides: Assist bus driver in transporting toddlers and preschoolers on and off bus and to appropriate classrooms and aid children in the return to their respective homes after school.
4. File Clerk: Works with programs to assist in filing of confidential documents of customers served at MYCAP.
5. Receptionist: General office pricedures: making copies, sending faxes, shredding, answering phone/switchboard, and any other clerical duties as needed.
6. VITA Volunteer: Complete federal and state income tax returns for low income persons.
